Ken Faier and Steve Couture are launching a new Quebec-based animation studio called Loomi Animation that will focus on original animated content for Epic Story Media and Epic Storyworlds, as well as third-party projects.

Louis Leclerc has joined as director of the new studio from Pixel Québec, and Guylaine Robidoux and Daniel Belleville from Montreal’s ToonDraw are also on board as consultants.

Faier and Couture teamed up earlier this year to launch kids IP incubator Epic Storyworlds, which promptly locked in its first greenlight from CBC Kids. The Canadian pubcaster picked up animated action-comedy Dex and the Humanimals for its TOU.TV platform, and the series will be Loomi’s first animation project.

A former SVP and executive producer at DHX Media (now WildBrain), Faier also owns and runs Toronto-based content creation/distribution hub Epic Story Media, which he set up in 2017.

In recent months, Epic Story Media has acquired exclusive distribution rights to animated series Tina & Tony; was appointed as the U.S. and Canadian licensing agent for Outfit7′s flagship brand Talking Tom and Friends; and partnered with direct-to-consumer toymaker HUGE! Play to launch products inspired by its key IPs.
