Following Baroness von Sketch Show‘s season four finale, the Frantic Films hit single-camera comedy has started rolling on its latest batch of episodes in Toronto.
Starring co-creators Carolyn Taylor, Meredith McNeill, Aurora Browne and Jennifer Whalen, the series, which airs on CBC in Canada and IFC in the U.S., earned an early eight-episode, 30-minute order for its fifth season from CBC this summer.
This latest round will see Vivieno Caldinelli (This Hour Has 22 Minutes) and Joyce Wong (Wexford Plaza) serve as directors. Showrunner Whalen and her co-stars will also direct select sketches.
Frantic Films’ CEO Jamie Brown is an executive producer on the comedy, while president Jeff Peeler serves as Baroness von Sketch Show‘s supervising producer. Sally Karam is a supervising producer and executive producer.
This production news follows Baroness von Sketch Show‘s recent Rose d’Or nomination in the best comedy category, as well as the show’s $25,000 Rogers Prize for Excellence in Canadian Content win at the 2019 Rockie Awards International Program Competition. Since its debut, the show has received 27 award nominations and walked away with 21 wins to date, according to a release.
