Breakthrough Entertainment
Toronto prodco and distributor Breakthrough Entertainment has revealed a number of factual and scripted programming sales ahead of MIPCOM. Its factual sales include Sex, Lies & Murder (40 x 60 minutes) and I Lived with a Killer (20 x 60 minutes), which were picked up by A&E in the U.K., while Hollywood Homicide Uncovered (6 x 60 minutes) was picked up by Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polsat and Greatest Tank Battles (26 x 60 minutes) was sold to Czech Republic pubcaster Ceska Televize. France’s Canal Plus picked up season three of the docuseries Resilient Cities (16 x 30 minutes). On the scripted side, the film I’ll Take Your Dead was sold to Prime Pictures in the Middle East and Turner Lat Am in Latin America.
Portfolio Entertainment
Toronto prodco Portfolio Entertainment, known for its children’s programming, is moving into feature film distribution, revealing its new film slate for MIPCOM. The company acquired three new films ahead of the market, including the thriller Archons, produced by A Farewell To Kings Entertainment Company, anime feature Ghost Messenger, produced by South Korea’s Studio Animal, and satire Modern Classic, produced by OPC Productions. Also on Portfolio’s MIPCOM slate is Stolen Miracle, which Portfolio produced in 2001 and remastered for re-release. The company is also diversifying its content roster with Doomsday Brothers, its first foray into adult animation.
Yap Films
Factual prodco Yap Films has revealed five new original series and documentary specials to debut at MIPCOM. The slate includes three original commissions from OUTtv: My Trans Journey (5 x 30 minutes), Translating Beauty (1 x 60 minutes) and true-crime series Murder on the Fringe (6 x 60 minutes). Other new factual series headed to MIPCOM include Construction Fails (8 x 60 minutes, 16 x 30 minutes) and Gangster Gold (1 x 60 minutes; pictured). Additional Yap Films content headed to the market include Mosquito, Ice Bridge, Genetic Revolution and Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl.
