Reel One adds Barbara Fisher to exec team

The newly created L.A. role will see the former Hallmark Channel exec oversee all of the company's scripted development and production activities, plus more.

barbarafisher-reeloneMontreal-headquartered Reel One Entertainment has hired former Hallmark Channel and Lifetime Channel exec Barbara Fisher as its EVP of scripted content.

In her newly created L.A. role, Fisher will be responsible for leading all of the prodco and distributor’s scripted development and production activities, including overseeing its slate of MOWs and TV series, and working with broadcasters and digital platforms.

Reporting to CEO Tom Berry, she will also help create and execute the next phase of Reel One Entertainment’s growth strategy with EVP of business affairs Breanne Hartley and EVP of distribution Sebastian Battro.

Prior to joining Reel One Entertainment, Fisher held senior positions at UP TV, The Hallmark Channel and A+E’s Lifetime Channel, to name a few. Most recently, she served as SVP, original programming for UP TV, where she oversaw the company’s slate of movies and TV series. Additionally, as SVP at The Hallmark Channel she led the network’s first foray into scripted series and headed up the development and production of over 40 movies a year. Meanwhile, as EVP, entertainment at the Lifetime Channel, Fisher was in charge of scheduling for all Lifetime channels and series, movies and reality programming.

Fisher’s appointment comes as the producer and distributor looks to expand its scripted content slate for North America and international markets, according to a release. Series currently in development at Reel One Entertainment include an adaptation of Belgian series Tytgat Chocolat (“Team Chocolate”) with U.K. theatre company Chickenshed; crime series Our Father with ShinAwiL; and an adaptation of writer Philip K. Dick’s novella Second Variety, to name a few.
