Montreal’s MK2 | Mile End has promoted Ariane Giroux-Dallaire to managing director and head of distribution.
Giroux-Dallaire has been with the distribution outfit since January 2017 when it was launched by former Métropole Films Distribution head Charles Tremblay in partnership with Paris, France-based producer and distributor MK2. Since she joined MK2 | Mile End, she has worked as the company’s director of distribution, playing a major role in all areas of the distributor’s activities, according to the company.
Prior to this, the exec worked for fellow Montreal-based distribution outfits Les Films Seville and Métropole Films Distribution, serving as Métropole’s director of distribution from January 2008 to January 2017.
“Charles and I have been working together for over 10 years. Launching a new distribution company in 2017 was a daunting challenge, but we were convinced that with our know-how and experience we would be able to take our place among the established players in the Canadian market,” she said in a statement. “We succeeded and are now entering the second phase of our development with a focus on quality films that can reach a wide audience across Canada.”
Most recently, the distributor acquired the Canadian film distribution rights to four titles, including 2019 Palme d’Or winner Parasite (South Korea) from director Bong Joon Ho; Portrait of a Lady on Fire (France) from writer/director Céline Sciamma; documentary Honeyland (Macedonia) and Aardman Studios’ sequel to Shaun the Sheep (2015), A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (U.K.). MK2 | Mile End is also set to distribute Louise Archambault’s upcoming feature Il Pleuvait Des Oiseaux (“It Was Raining Birds”) domestically.
