Distributor Raven Banner Releasing and sales agent ro*co films international have acquired the rights to Pipe Dreams ahead of its world premiere at Hot Docs 2019.
Produced by Stacey Tenenbaum’s Montreal-based H2L Productions banner, the documentary follows five young organists as they compete in the high-stakes Canadian International Organ Competition (CIOC). Pipe Dreams was co-created by Tenenbaum and cinematographer Van Royko. The duo serve as co-directors on the doc alongside Christina Clark. Tenenbaum also penned the project.
Northern Banner holds all Canadian rights to Pipe Dreams, while ro*co films represents all rights to the film outside of North America.
Pipe Dreams is Tenenbaum’s second feature film under H2L Productions. Her first feature documentary, Shiners: The Art of The Shoe Shine was previously selected for Hot Docs in 2017. Shiners examines the lives of shoe shiners and their working conditions from New York to Tokyo and beyond.
Pipe Dreams will make its world debut in Hot Docs’ Artscapes program alongside fellow Canadian project, Jamie Kastner’s There Are No Fakes. The Hot Docs International Documentary Festival runs from April 25 to May 6 in Toronto.
