Kyle Rideout and Josh Epstein’s feature script Astrid’s Death List has been picked up by Paramount.
L.A.-based Di Bonaventura Pictures, which has produced features such as 2018’s Bumblebee and a number of films in the Transformers franchise, is set to produce the project. Erik Howsam and Stephen Shafer will oversee production for di Bonaventura Pictures. Details of the storyline have not been disclosed.
The Paramount pickup comes about 15 months since Rideout and Epstein’s Adventures in Public School premiered at TIFF ’17. The Judy Greer-starring comedy, produced through their Vancouver-based prodco Motion 58, was picked up by Gravitas Ventures and subsequently sold to Netflix in a number of international territories.
Rideout and Epstein (pictured right and left, respectively) told Playback Daily the success of the project enabled them to “get in front of the right people in the right rooms” and helped lay the groundwork for the Paramount deal. The pair added that they are in development on a number of other series and film projects.
Rideout and Epstein’s previous film credits include the CSA-nominated psychological drama Eadweard, about the pioneering British photographer Eadweard Muybridge.
