The Toronto-based company, founded by Day in 2010, has tapped long-time Thunderbird comms head Nicola Pender to run the new office. She’ll serve as director of communications.

Innovate By Day is also adding to its Toronto ranks with the appointment of Jeff Schnurr as head of business development.

Since its launch, the company has grown to more than 20 staff, including director of production and business affairs Torin Stefanson and director of content and engagement Jay Gordon. It has produced digital and interactive content for a number of popular Canadian series, including Workin’ Moms (CBC), Mary Kills People (Global), The Bachelor Canada (W Network), Private Eyes (Global) and Corner Gas Animated (The Comedy Network). Innovate also handled the digital marketing strategy for Telefilm’s Movie Nights Across Canada initiative.

In a statement, Day, who was last month selected as selected as the recipient of WIFT-T’s 2018 Digital Trailblazer Award, called the expansion an “important next step in our company’s evolution and to servicing our growing client base.”
