DHX Media and China-based The Alpha Group have co-commissioned a new animated series, Rev & Roll, via Family Jr. and Jiajia, respectively.
Production on the 52 x 11-minute series is expected to start this fall.
Alpha Group will handle distribution of the series in China, Asia, MENA and Russia and has been appointed global master toy partner, while DHX Media will manage distribution for the rest of the world.
Featuring eight-year-old Rev, the storyline is about a world where his best friends are trucks, cars, ATVs and other vehicles. The series is created and executive produced by Scott and Julie Stewart (Kate & Mim-Mim), alongside Anne Loi, Kirsten Newlands and Ken Faier for DHX Media with Isaac Lin and Ray Wang for Alpha Group.
This isn’t the first time the two companies have partnered on a project. Earlier this year, DHX Brands appointed Alpha Group US, a subsidiary of the Chinese group, as global master toy licensee (excluding Asia) for a line of role-play toys, dress-up items, action figures, radio-control toys, plush and board games inspired by DHX Media’s original sci-fi competition Massive Monster Mayhem.
