Philip Kalin-Hajdu, formerly director of development at Couzin Films, has joined Montreal’s Media Ranch as head of content and storytelling.
In the posting, Kalin-Hajdu will be responsible for developing and writing new series and formats in an effort to grow Media Ranch’s unscripted entertainment content stable. Additionally, he will be tasked with seeking out new talent. He’ll report directly to Media Ranch president Sophie Ferron.
Kalin-Hajdu’s career has spanned two decades across feature film, TV and digital platforms. Most recently as director of development at Montreal-based film, television and digital media prodco Couzin Films, Kalin-Hajduhad had been responsible for developing more than a dozen film and television projects, while also line producing and developing myriad digital series, including The Judas, which Media Ranch will be unveiling at next month’s MIPCOM in Cannes as a format.
Kalin-Hajdu’s appointment comes as Media Ranch celebrates its 10th anniversary. Headquartered in Montreal with offices in the Netherlands and L.A., the production outfit specializes in docu-drama and reality television.
Media Ranch will hit the Croissette next month for the 2018 MIPCOM market with a slate of original television formats available for acquisition, including relationship series The Ex-pert (13 x 60 minutes), The Judas (12 x 10 minutes) and reality game show The Vault (10 x 50 minutes).
