In its 21st year, Halifax coproduction and financing market Strategic Partners is making some big changes.
Now rebranded as FIN Partners, the market also has a new leader at the helm, program manager Morgan Salter (pictured).
Salter takes over from Laura Mackenzie, who served in the role for five years, and who was named executive director of Screen Nova Scotia earlier this year. Salter previously served as Youth Initiatives coordinator for the Atlantic International Film Festival, and has served as a production coordinator and manager for local films, including Cory Bowles’ Black Cop.
Last year, the Atlantic International Film Festival rebranded to FIN: Atlantic International Film Festival in an effort to unify all of the festival’s year-round programming under a single brand. Given that the rebrand was rolled out mid-summer, and many of its programs were already underway, Strategic Partners didn’t take on the FIN branding until this year.
FIN Partners, which runs Sept. 13 to 15 in Halifax, will this year spotlight the U.K., Ireland and the U.S, focusing on dramatic features, TV and digital fiction projects. The intimate market, which hosts roughly 150 delegates a year, has kicked off a number of international coproductions, Salter told Playback Daily, including recent hits like Maudie and The Book of Negroes.
