Sesame Workshop, Nelvana strike deal

In addition to content airing exclusively on Corus' Treehouse net, Nelvana will now represent Sesame Street's licensing efforts in Canada.

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana has inked an exclusive Canadian broadcast and licensing agreement with Sesame Workshop.

The partnership will see Sesame Street and additional Sesame Studios content air exclusively on Corus Entertainment’s Treehouse preschool network and non-linear platforms. New content will include seasons 46 and 47 of Sesame Street, as well as episodes of Elmo’s World and Abby’s Flying Fairy School. In addition, the agreement covers more than 50 pieces of short-form content from Sesame Workshop’s YouTube channel Sesame Studios, including Scribble Tales, Nursery Rhyme Remixes and Tater & Tot.

Nelvana will also represent Sesame Street’s licensing efforts in Canada. (Toronto’s The Licensing Shop has handled the brand’s licensing business in Canada since 2008.)

The exclusive deal builds on Nelvana’s partnership with Sesame Workshop on Esme & Roy. The 52 x 11-minute series, which follows a young girl and her best friend as they babysit monsters in their neighborhood, is slated to premiere on Treehouse in Canada.
