Portfolio Entertainment has hired Marianne Culbert as its new VP, production.

In the role, Culbert will oversee production on all of the Toronto company’s animated shows, including The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That! (PBS/Treehouse) and DOKI (Discovery Kids), as well as managing its animation studio. She will report to Portfolio CEO and co-founder Lisa Olfman.

Culbert has worked in the animation and children’s content industry for three decades and has previously served as EVP, production at Arc Productions and VP, production at Mercury Filmworks.

She is also the former VP, production at Nelvana, where worked on animated properties including Wilbur, Toot and Puddle, Little Bear and Max & Ruby.

Culbert takes over for Julie Stall, who has served as SVP of Production since 2010. Stall, who has worked with Portfolio since 2000, is exiting the company in the coming months.
