Albert Cheng has been named co-head of television, taking on daily oversight of the creative and production units.

amazon pictureAmazon Studios’ Jennifer Salke has shuffled her executive team months after replacing Roy Price as head of the digital giant in February, naming Albert Cheng to the newly created role of co-head of television.

In this new post, Cheng (pictured) will work with his partner – to be named within the coming months – on the daily oversight of the business, creative and production units. The pair will report into Salke.

Cheng, a former ABC digital exec, will also stay on in his current role as COO of all Amazon Studios.

“I’m delighted that an opportunity for Albert to be elevated within the Television Studios has been created. His business acumen, collaborative nature and clear goals toward continued success make him an invaluable team player as we move forward,” said Salke, in a statement.

Additionally, Heather Schuster will remain as head of unscripted, while Nick Hall is head of alternative.

The scripted development team, meanwhile, has been reorganized and will now report to the Cheng and his fellow co-head of TV.

Sharon Tal Yguado, head of genre, will focus on event genre series in the science fiction, fantasy and supernatural space.

Elsewhere, Marc Resteghini is head of drama; Gina Kwon and Ryan Adolina are co-heads of comedy; Melissa Wolfe remains head of kids programming; and Georgia Brown is the head of UK-originated scripted TV. Brown also retains her role for EU Originals and reports to co-heads of television for UK-originated scripted TV and to Brad Beale for EU Originals.
