Guru Studio continues to expand exec team

The Toronto-based prodco has hired former Portfolio Entertainment director of international sales and acquisitions Jonathan Abraham.

jonathan abrahamToronto-based Guru Studio (Justin Time) has tapped Jonathan Abraham for the newly created role of senior director of sales and new business development. Abraham will report to both Mary Bredin, EVP of content and strategy, and Frank Falcone, president and executive creative director.

Abraham will be responsible for driving worldwide sales for Guru’s original kids and family content. He will also develop new business opportunities across broadcast, licensing, consumer products and emerging platforms.

Previously, Abraham served as director of international sales and acquisitions at Toronto’s Portfolio Entertainment, where he led the growth of the company’s distribution division. Abraham also served as the international sales and marketing manager for Hong Kong-based toyco Zuru Ltd.

Abraham’s hiring comes as Guru Studio continues to expand its leadership team. In November, the company appointed former Disney executive Kara Lord Piersimoni as its new VP of production, as well as Daniel Rattner, who now serves as senior director of marketing and branding. Meanwhile, Guru original True and the Rainbow Kingdom was recently renewed for a third season by Netflix.
