Ontario-based producer/distributor Brain Power Studio has partnered with Discovery Kids Latin America on a new live-action children’s series, The Ponysitters Club.
The 20 x 22-minute series is currently in production in Newmarket and Barrie, ON, with several episodes already delivered. The series is set to launch on Discovery Kids Latin America this year. Based on the book by Victoria Carson, The Ponysitters Club follows 12-year-old Skye, a struggling student who wants to take on more responsibility at her mother’s rescue ranch, but needs the help of her friends to do so.
The series is executive produced by Brain Power founder Beth Stevenson and Nancy Yeaman. It was written by David Finley and directed by Justin G. Dyck, Marco Deufemia and Emma Jean Sutherland. The series received support from the Shaw Rocket Fund.
Brain Power Studios owns the global rights to the series and is managing its distribution.
The launch follows Brain Power Studios’ 2017 deal with Discovery Networks for the 90- minute live-action film, A Witches Ball. The film premiered on Discovery Kids Latin America and Discovery Family in the U.S. in October.
