Brunico Communications has hired Jenn Kuzmyk as executive director of the Banff World Media Festival (BANFF).
In the role, Kuzmyk, who most recently served as the director of international distribution at Toronto’s Proper Rights, will be responsible for heading up all commercial activities and partnerships related to the annual festival, as well as managing sales related to Brunico-owned publication Playback (both its magazine and events).
“The combination of Jenn’s deep experience in the development, production and distribution of content for the international market and her seasoned journalism background provides her with the context and perspective to add tremendous value to BANFF,” said Russell Goldstein, president and CEO, Brunico.
Prior to her time at Proper Rights, Kuzmyk was VP of development at Toronto’s Cream Productions, where she oversaw the creative and financing of more than 10 series including the Emmy-nominated Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan. She also spent 10 years as Canadian bureau chief and an editor at C21 Media.
Kuzmyk replaces the former exec director of BANFF Ferne Cohen, who exited the role in August following a decade-long tenure with the festival.
Brunico, which is also the parent company of brands such as Kidscreen and Realscreen, acquired Toronto-based Achilles Media, including the operating rights to the Banff World Media Festival, in June 2016.
The upcoming festival runs from June 10 to 13, 2018.
