Syndicado launches European film sales division

The Toronto-based digital distributor has also unveiled its slate of doc projects heading to IDFA in Amsterdam.

Toronto-based distribution firm Syndicado has launched a sales division in Europe.

Syndicado Film Sales will be led by Aleksandar Govedarica and will specialize in theatrical, digital and broadcast representation for documentary projects. Govedarica currently serves as Syndicado’s co-managing director for Europe.

While the company’s exact location still needs to be determined, a decision will be made in the coming weeks, according to a spokesperson.

The new division will take a slate of documentaries to the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) later this month, including Ziad Kalthoum’s The Taste of Cement (pictured), Bernadett Tuza-Ritter’s A Woman Captured, Lukas Kokes and Klara Tasovska’s Nothing Like Before and Arun Bhattarai and Dorottya Zurbo’s The Next Guardian.

Headed up by Greg Rubidge, Syndicado recently inked a deal with U.S. streaming platform Popcornflix for 40 hours of content.
