Latest CMF convergent stream invests $10.5M across 43 projects

Digital media components for Baroness Von Sketch Show and The Beaverton were among projects to receive financing.

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) has distributed $10.5 million across 43 projects via its Convergent Digital Media Incentive.

Twenty-two English-language and 21 French-language projects received financing in the latest round, announced Wednesday.

Frantic Films’ Baroness Von Sketch Show (which received $389,329) and Pier 21 Films’ The Beaverton ($247,755) were among the English-language projects to receive financial support through the stream, as well as Shaftesbury’s Murdoch Mysteries ($247,755), New Metric Media’s Letterkenny ($283,684), MSJ Productions’ Letter from the Grave ($435,973), Blue Ant Media’s Rebel Bride: Makeful Weddings ($394,449) and Seven24 and Dynamo Films’ Heartland ($330,339).

On the French-language side, Productions de l’Ardoise’s Heure bleue ($192,672), Attraction Images’ Mammouth ($110,100), Sovicom’s Mensonges ($300,000) and two projects from Aetios Productions  Clash ($211,750) and Ruptures ($140,000) – were among the recipients.

Of the 43 projects chosen, 14 are docs, eight are children’s and youth projects, 18 are dramas and three are variety and performing arts shows.
