Baronesses get to work on season three

The all-female original comedy, produced by Frantic Films, has been a hit online, with a recent sketch racking up seven million views on Facebook.

Cameras are rolling on season three of CBC original comedy series Baroness Von Sketch Show.

Produced by Winnipeg and Toronto-based Frantic Films, the 10-part, half-hour series will shoot in and around Toronto until November 2017, with the third season set to debut on CBC in 2018. In May, AMC Networks-owned IFC picked up seasons one and two of the series for U.S. broadcast on the channel. IFC has yet to announce if it will pick up the third installment.

Created, written and executive produced by, and starring Carolyn Taylor, Meredith MacNeill, Aurora Browne and Jennifer Whalen, Baroness Von Sketch wrapped its second season on CBC in August. In addition to the baronesses, the series is exec produced by Frantic’s Jamie Brown.

While its linear viewership hasn’t broken any records (season one drew an average 2+ audience of 265,000, according to Numeris data provided by CBC), the series has been a hit online. The debut sketch “Locker Room” garnered 1.8 million views on Facebook, and its latest video “Psych up salad” has received seven million views on the social media platform. It also picked up three Canadian Screen Awards this year, including best variety/sketch comedy series and best writing and picture editing for a variety/sketch show.
