Toronto’s Don Carmody Television (DCTV) is producing the four-part political and environmental drama Rare Earth with Dublin-based Bandit Films.
The official copro between Canada and Ireland is set to begin casting early next year, with the series slated to air on Irish public broadcaster RTÉ One in fall 2018.
Don Carmody and David Cormican will executive produce the series, alongside showrunner and director Johnny Gogan (Black Ice) of Bandit Films. Munich-based Palatin Media will handle international sales.
Set in the northern border region of Ireland, the show follows Alice Walters, a woman with a troubled past who is tasked with serving as the environmental officer of her wild, lawless border city.
Additional funding was secured through Ireland’s Western Development Commission and the country’s tax credits.
