Showcase sets fall schedule, Travelers return

The Corus-owned specialty channel also announced premiere dates for recently acquired U.S. series, The Sinner and Marvel's Runaways.

Corus-owned specialty channel Showcase has set its fall schedule for 2017, including the season-two return of Peacock Alley Entertainment-produced sci-fi drama Travelers.

As it did in the previous broadcast season, the series starring Eric McCormack will air on Mondays at 9 p.m. and returns on Oct. 16. Travelers, which is produced in association with Showcase and Netflix, tells the story of a group of the last surviving humans on earth who discover how to send consciousness back in time to the 21st century.

Corus also set the launch dates for two recently acquired U.S. series, The Sinner starring Jessica Biel and Marvel’s Runaways, as well as season four of Amazon Prime’s Transparentwhich previously aired on the now-defunct streaming platform shomi. The Sinner debuts on Monday, Aug. 21 at 10 p.m., Runaways on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 10 p.m. and Transparent premieres with back-to-back episodes on Friday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m.

Following the news that Corus had acquired the Canadian broadcast rights to the Star Wars franchise, the media company has confirmed it will broadcast a Star Wars marathon this Thanksgiving weekend (Oct. 6 to 9). The movie marathon will include Star Wars: A New HopeStar Wars: The Empire Strikes BackStar Wars: Return of the JediStar Wars: The Phantom MenaceStar Wars: Attack of the Clones, and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Further broadcast details will be announced at a later date.

Also finalized for Showcase’s 2017 lineup is season three of Supergirl, which premieres on Monday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. The premiere dates for other returning series, season four of USA Network’s Mr. Robot and Syfy’s Channel Zero, will be announced at a later date.
