WME-IMG/IMG Media executive Alex Maldini has joined Toronto-based distributor Blue Ant International as VP of international sales and acquisitions.
In the new position, Maldini will oversee Blue Ant’s sales across the U.K., Scandinavia, Benelux and Italy, and will also be responsible for expanding the division’s content library with further titles from premium third-party producers.
Based out of the company’s London offices, he reports to Blue Ant International SVP Solange Attwood.
Most recently, Maldini served as WME-IMG/IMG Media’s VP of entertainment, sales and acquisitions over a six-year period where he was responsible for growing the company’s catalogue across all genres in the U.K., Scandinavia, Benelux and Global Pan Regional networks. In addition, he led the annual sales and acquisitions strategy for WME-IMG’s entertainment division.
Previously, Maldini held executive roles with DCD Media and September International.
The sales division of Blue Ant Media, Blue Ant International works with the largest slate of native 4K nature and wildlife content, serving more than 2,300-plus hours of factual, fact-ent, lifestyle, reality, docuseries, high impact docs and blockbuster formats.
Blue Ant Media most recently acquired David Haslingden’s Racat Group for an undisclosed amount. The Racat Group includes New Zealand’s factual powerhouse NHNZ, Singapore-based Beach House Pictures, Australia’s Northern Pictures, international children’s nature broadcaster ZooMoo Networks and New Zealand-based indie mobile game developer Runaway Play.
In a release announcing the hire, Attwood said Blue Ant International has “significant plans” to invest in third-party programming and expand its catalogue with more premium content.
