Currently serving Toronto and the GTA, the daily news show will launch local versions in Edmonton and Winnipeg on Monday Sept. 4th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time. Local versions will expand into Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary in winter 2018.

Each market will have a one-hour newscast seven days a week with CityNews at Six at 6 p.m. and CityNews Tonight at 11 p.m.

CityNews‘ Toronto version first went live in 1975. The expanded version will include regional and national news, pulling in complementary content from other Rogers Media brands, like Maclean’s, Breakfast Television and Sportsnet.

Additional programming and talent announcements will be made in the coming months, according to a release.
