Quebecor Media Group on Wednesday revealed its 2017/18 program slate during its upfront presentation, with Canadian dramas such as Ransom (eOne, Sienna Films) and Blue Moon (Aetios Productions) among the titles added to its roster.
French-language series Blue Moon, which stars Karine Vanasse (Cardinal) as a Canadian soldier returning from a mission in Africa, joins the 2017/18 lineup on Quebecor Media Group’s flagship French-language channel TVA, alongside new Encore Television-produced supernatural drama Prémonitions, starring Pascale Bussières. In addition, 10-part French-language drama Fugueuse, also produced by Encore, was unveiled. Written by Michelle Allen (Pour Sarah) and directed by Éric Tessier, Fugueuse tells the story of a 16-year-old girl that falls into prostitution.
Other new French-language shows for TVA include reality series La magie des stars (Entourage Télévision), in which untrained magicians are trained to perform, and Conversation secrete (Fair Play Group), where journalist Paul Arcand gives in-depth interviews. Also landing on the channel is game show Lâchés Lousses (Pixcom and Entourage Télévision), based on the U.K. format You’re Back In The Room. TVA also picked up English-language ABC series Designated Survivor.
Among the French-language shows returning to TVA are season six of competition series La Voix, season two of La Voix Junior and a sophomore season of Sphere Media-produced L’Imposteur.
On Quebecor Media Group’s French-language addikTV channel, the acquisitions include season one of English-language Ransom, produced by eOne, Toronto-based Sienna Films, Frank Spotnitz’s Big Light Productions and Paris-based Wildcats Productions, as well as the first season of France/U.S. drama Taken, which is based on the Liam Neeson-starring films. Returning to addiktv is season five of Chicago Fire, season two of Mr. Robot and season four of Once Upon a Time.
Quebecor Media Group also picked up The Real Housewives of Toronto (Lark Productions), U.S. drama Good Behaviour (Storyland) and What’s For Sale? With a View (Blue Ant Media) for its women-focused channel MOI&cie. Original production Homme cherche sérieux, a docuseries following single men looking for a partner, was also greenlit by the channel.
