Workin’ Moms has the season-two greenlight from CBC.
The announcement was made by creator Catherine Reitman via Facebook Live following the first season finale.
“We did not get a second season,” Reitman joked at first, before confirming: “Just kidding…CBC has officially approved a second season.” CBC subsequently confirmed the renewal to Playback Daily.
Season two will consist of 13 episodes, with the writing team currently scripting new episodes in Toronto. Production is set to begin this summer ahead of a winter 2018 premiere.
Season one of the half-hour comedy debuted Jan. 10 to an average (2+) audience of 619,000, with 1.2 million tuning in to at least some of the show, according to overnight Numeris data provided by the CBC.
Workin’ Moms was created by star Reitman and is produced by Wolf & Rabbit Entertainment. The series also stars Dani Kind, Jessalyn Wanlim and Juno Rinaldi, as well Reitman’s real-life husband and producing partner Philip Sternberg.
Writers for the first season included Reitman, Rebecca Kohler (Kim’s Convenience), Karen Moore (What Would Sal Do?), Diane Flacks (Baroness Von Sketch Show) and Ingrid Haas (The UCB Show).
