Creative BC has appointed Sandi Richter Cooper as the province’s next film commissioner and director of production services.
Richter Cooper, who will report to Creative BC CEO Prem Gill, will be responsible for locations marketing, production resource support, as well as industry and community relations. She’ll also work to support collaborationg between the province’s eight regional film commissions, industry and labour organizations and government. She’ll join the organization on May 1.
Most recently, Richter Cooper served as an executive producer at virtual reality startup VRCinematic. Prior to that she was a partner and executive talent manager at Strategic Transitions, and over the course of her 25-year-career has worked as an executive producer at Vancouver’s Apple Box Productions and an independent producer developing projects through her prodco, Sapphire Entertainment.
Richter Cooper takes over for acting film commissioner and VP of Creative BC, Robert Wong. Wong has served as acting film commissioner since 2013. As VP, he’ll continue to focus primarily on the province’s development funding programs, tax credit administration and international collaborations.
