Toronto-based Portfolio Entertainment has started production on a third season of The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!

The animated preschool series (20 x 30 minutes) airs on Corus Entertainment’s Treehouse in Canada and PBS in the U.S. Season three will be available to Treehouse in October and PBS next February.

The new episodes will be produced and animated in-house at Portfolio’s 9,000 square-foot animation studio, which the company opened in 2015.

Season three will follow The Cat, voiced by Martin Short, as he guides his friends on a series of adventures and explores the physical sciences and how things work.The animated series recently picked up two Canadian Screen Award nominations: A best direction nom for director Paul Hunt and a best performance nom for Short.

The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That! is produced in association with Random House Children’s Books and Dr. Seuss Enterprises and funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education through a Ready To Learn grant.
