Former Teletoon president Len Cochrane dies at 71

The long-time Corus executive retired in January 2014 after more than two decades with the company.

len cochraneLong-time Corus executive and former president of Teletoon Canada, Len Cochrane, has died. He was 71.

Cochrane, who retired in 2014, oversaw five English- and French-language national specialty TV networks, including Teletoon, Teletoon Rétro and Cartoon Network.

From November 1990 to September 2001, he served as the president and COO of Family Channel, before being elevated to president of Teletoon. Cochrane was also part of the team that secured the deal with Turner Broadcast Systems, enabling the launch of Cartoon Network in Canada.

Corus president and CEO Doug Murphy described Cochrane as a “true visionary” in a message sent to company employees. “Len had a terrific career and his experience, knowledge and genuine love for what he did inspired many,” he added.
