CBC has cancelled Sphere Media-produced drama This Life after two seasons.
The announcement was made via the show’s Facebook page and CBC subsequently confirmed the news to Playback Daily.
“It’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to our viewers, as #ThisLifeCBC will not be returning for a third season,” read the original social post.
The cancellation comes one week after the series received a CSA nomination in the Best Dramatic Series category, alongside Vikings (Take 5 Productions), Blood & Water (Breakthrough Entertainment), Orphan Black (Temple Street) and 19-2, which is also produced by Sphere Media. Lauren Lee Smith, who plays Maggie in the series, was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
The family drama, which is based on the French-language series Nouvelle adresse, bowed on CBC in October 2015 as part of the pubcaster’s fall slate and was subsequently renewed for a follow-up season in 2016.
