CBC has revealed an expanded roster of Canada 150 programming, adding factual content produced by DHX Media, Galafilm Productions and White Pine Pictures to its 2017 lineup.
Multiplatform series Train 150 (6 x 60 minutes), produced by DHX, takes viewers on a cross-country train journey across Canada, while We Are Canada (6 x 60 minutes), produced by Toronto’s White Pine, is a series focusing on young Canadians that are shaping the nation’s future.
In addition, CBC has added two hour-long episodes of Canada: A People’s History to its sesquicentennial programming lineup. Produced by Montreal’s Galafilm Productions, the episodes chart some of the most historic events to take place in Canada over the past 25 years.
The CBC will also air a series comprised of short docs filmed by aboriginal filmmakers. Among the films featured in CBC Short Docs: Indigenous is Call Me Olly by Jordan Molaro and Tyson Anderson, Four Faces of the Moon by Amanda Strong, Helen Knott by Coty Savard, and Precious Things by Roxann Whitebean.
The newly announced content joins 10-part docu-drama Canada: The Story of Us (Bristow Global Media) and six-episode series Becoming Canadian (Antica Productions and eOne), which were both announced in June.
The CBC has not yet specified when its Canada 150 content will air.
