Production is underway in Toronto on Molly’s Game, from The Mark Gordon Company and Pascal Pictures.
The feature marks the directorial debut of The Social Network scribe Aaron Sorkin, who also adapted the script from Molly Bloom’s memoir. Mark Gordon is producing alongside Amy Pascal, through her production shingle Pascal Pictures. Leopoldo Gout and Matt Jackson serve as executive producers.
The feature is financed by eOne and The Mark Gordon Company. Last year, eOne purchased a 51% stake in L.A.’s The Mark Gordon Company, to create the indie film and television studio.
eOne will distribute the film in Canada, the U.K., Australia/New Zealand, Benelux and Spain, with STX Entertainment handling U.S. distribution and Sierra/Affinity representing all other international territories.
The film tells the story of an Olympic-class skier who, for decades, ran one of the most exclusive high-stakes poker games before eventually being arrested by the FBI. The film stars Jessica Chastain (The Martian) and Idris Elba (Luther) as well as Canadians Michael Cera (Juno) and Graham Greene (Longmire).
