Discovery Canada has greenlit the second season of Frontier ahead of the series premiere on Nov. 6.
Produced by Take The Shot Productions in association with Discovery Canada, season-two filming is currently underway in St. John’s, N.L., Cape Breton, N.S., Ottawa and Cornwall, U.K.
The new season (6 x 60 minutes) of the Jason Momoa-starrer will bow on Discovery Canada in 2017, while Netflix will air the series internationally.
Returning cast for season two include Landon Liboiron (Hemlock Grove), Alun Armstrong (New Tricks), Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey), Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle), Jessica Matten (A Red Girl’s Reasoning), and Shawn Doyle (House of Cards).
Frontier is co-created by Rob and Peter Blackie and is Discovery Canada’s first ever scripted series. The first season of the period drama about the 18th century North American fur trade will become available on Netflix Canada after Discovery’s 18-month exclusivity window ends.
