Cameras roll in Toronto on del Toro’s latest

Production on the fantasy feature from director Guillermo del Toro begins today.

shutterstock_14264536Production is underway in Toronto on Guillermo del Toro’s latest feature film, The Shape of Water.

The fantasy feature, which is set in the U.S. in 1963, is shooting at Cinespace Film Studios from Aug. 15 to Oct. 21.

The announcement was made Monday by Fox Searchlight Pictures.

Starring Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine), Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) and Michael Stuhlbarg (Steve Jobs), the film is co-written by the Pan’s Labyrinth director and Vanessa Taylor (Game of ThronesDivergent). The Shape of Water is produced by del Toro and J. Miles Dale.

The director’s 2013 feature film Pacific Rim also shot in Toronto. The Idris Elba-starrer began filming at Pinewood Studios in 2011.
