1R2D acquires Catastrophe scripted format

Longueuil, QC-based 1R2D has acquired the scripted format Catastrophe from the U.K.’s Avalon Distribution. It is the first sale of the Catastrophe format.

1RD2 will produce the series in French and has licensed it to Super Écran. The original series was produced by Avalon Television with Birdbath Productions and Merman Films. The original series aired first on Channel 4 in the U.K. and then exclusively on Amazon Prime in the U.S. It has since been sold to over 120 territories worldwide, including Shomi in Canada.

Filming of the half-hour comedy will take place in Montreal in September and October, with the series set to air in early 2017.

Catastrophe will star Julie Perreault as Audrey, a Quebecois teacher, and Rossif Sutherland as Frank, an American Francophile, who have a one-night stand and must deal with the consequences.

1R2D’s Daniel Michaud and Denis Savard will produce with Louise Archambault (Gabrielle, Familia) set to direct.
