Brett Burlock joins Cineflix Media

The longtime industry executive has been named SVP of scripted at the Montreal-based company.

Montreal-based Cineflix Media has named former Sea to Sky Entertainment VP Brett Burlock as its new SVP of scripted.

In his new role, Burlock will develop scripted series and MOWs for Canadian and international markets, as well as working to develop programming internally at Cineflix and with third party co-production partners.

Burlock previously headed the Toronto office of Sea to Sky, a partnership between Lionsgate Television and Vancouver-based Thunderbird Films. Series recently produced by Sea to Sky include 2014’s Ascension, which aired on Syfy in the U.S. and CBC in Canada, and 2016’s Guilt, which will premiere on Bell Media’s Bravo on June 21.

Prior to working with Sea to Sky, Burlock headed scripted development for Toronto’s Take 5 Productions and was VP development for CTV, where he oversaw CTV’s original production slate, including The Borgias and Flashpoint.

“Brett has the reputation for bringing together talented writers and producers to develop and produce must-have series for networks around the globe. He’s the perfect fit with our strategy to push further into the scripted space,” said Cineflix Media co-founder and co-CEO Glen Salzman in a statement.

Burlock will be based in Cineflix’s Toronto office. Cineflix Media also has offices in New York, London and Dublin.
