Game of Thrones sets another record for HBO Canada

The show's season six Canadian premiere, directed by Jeremy Podeswa, broke the viewership record it set last year.

No spoilers here. Game of Thrones started off its sixth season with a bang, bringing in record viewers to its premiere episode on HBO Canada.

The show bowed to a total average audience of 1.68 million viewers on April 24, making it the most-watched episode for any series in HBO Canada’s history, and proving that viewers are willing to pay for content. 

The episode was also up 5% over the season five finale, which brought in a total of 1.63 million viewers. Last season’s premiere was watched by 1.61 million viewers.

The series’ first two episodes were directed by Canadian Jeremy Podeswa.
