Tricon acquires Forgive Me

The Toronto-based distributor has acquired the Nova Scotia-shot series' first two seasons ahead of next week's MIPTV.

Tricon Films and Television has acquired the first two seasons Emotion Pictures’ scripted drama Forgive Me (24 x 30 minutes) ahead of next week’s MIPTV.

The Nova Scotia-shot series airs on Super Channel in Canada, with the first season debuting in September 2013 for its 12-episode first season run. The second season was shot in April 2015 and premiered on Super Channel in October 2015.

Forgive Me is produced by Halifax-based Emotion Pictures, in association with Super Channel and with the participation with the Canada Media Fund. The show is written and directed by Thom Fitzgerald and centres on a young insomniac priest (played by Michael McLeod), who becomes obsessed with the confessions he hears, while at the same time as trying to protect secrets of his own.

In 2015 the series received five Canadian Screen Award nominations, including nods for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series for Thom Fitzgerald and Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series for McLeod. Forgiven was co-created and produced by Doug Pettigrew and Fitzgerald of Emotion Pictures.
