Annedroids, Odd Squad nab Daytime Emmy noms

Annedroids, Odd Squad and Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood are among Canadian and Canadian copro kids series that have been nominated for 2016 Daytime Emmy Awards.

Sinking Ship Entertainment’s Annedroids picked up 10 nominations, including nods for Outstanding Children’s Series, best writing in a children’s or pre-school series, best direction in a children’s or preschool series, outstanding art direction, outstanding cinematography and best performance nods for actors Jadiel Dowlin and Addison Holley.

Odd Squad, also produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment, earned nine nominations. Among Odd Squad‘s nominations were Outstanding Children’s Series, outstanding interactive media enhancement, outstanding writing in a children’s or pre-school series, outstanding sound editing in a live action series, outstanding costume design and a best performance nomination for Sean Michael Kyer’s work in the series. Dino Dan: Trek’s Adventures, another Sinking Ship production, was also nominated in the Outstanding Pre-School Children’s Series.

Meanwhile, 9 Story Media Group and The Fred Rogers Company copro Peg + Cat earned five nominations, including Outstanding Pre-School Children’s Animated Program and Outstanding Writing in a Preschool Animated Program.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood, a coproduction between 9 Story, The Ted Rogers Company and New York-based Out of the Blue, was also nominated for Outstanding Writing in a Preschool Animated Program. The animated series Wild Kratts, jointly produced by The Kratt Brothers Company and 9 Story, was nominated in the category of Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program.

The 43rd Daytime Emmy Awards will be held in Los Angeles at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites on May 1. Sinking Ship Entertainment took home three Daytime Emmys awards in 2015 – two for Odd Squad, and one for Dino Dan: Trek’s Adventures.
