Tricon bolsters factual, ani divisions with new hires

Toronto-based producer and distributor Tricon Film and Television has named two new execs to its factual development department, as well as appointing a new director of animation production.

Dan Miller joins Tricon as VP of factual development, and will be based in the company’s Toronto office. Prior to joining Tricon, Miller served as an executive producer, showrunner and director on over 100 episodes of primetime television, having most recently run Going Deep with David Rees for Esquire and National Geographic, and All-American Makers for Science Channel. He also recently lead the Build It Bigger series for Discovery & Science Channel.

Prior to that, Miller served as VP for Massachusetts-based Powderhouse Productions where he ran the prodco’s TV series and developed and directed pilots for History, Discovery, Animal Planet and AMC.

Tricon has also appointed Cheyanne Dillenberger to the newly created role of director of factual development. She will be based in Tricon’s Los Angeles office, and be responsible for creating, developing and selling original concepts, formats and character-based programming into the U.S. market. Dillenberger most recently served as director of development at Discovery Studios. Before that, she worked in casting and development for GRB Entertainment, Raw TV and Lion TV. Dillenberger has also worked in scripted development at AMC on shows such as Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Prisoner.

Finally, Christine Davis has also joined Tricon’s Toronto office as director of animation production for Tricon Kids & Family. Her credits include Arthur, Justin Time and Anne of Green Gables. She has also worked across a number of animation formats, including classical, flash, stop motion, 3D and special effects. Before joining Tricon, Davis was a founding partner of boutique animation consulting company Animated Solutions.
