Hot Docs festival has announced 15 of the titles to screen in this year’s Special Presentations program, with two Canadian titles among the lineup.
Kevin McMahon’s Spaceship Earth will make its world premiere at the Toronto festival, while Daniel Cross’ I Am the Blues makes its Canadian premiere.
Also making its world premiere is Beth Murphy’s What Tomorrow Brings (U.S.), as well as international premieres for Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing’s Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You (U.S.), Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk’s Audrie & Daisy (U.S.), Vanessa Gould’s Obit (U.S.), James Demo’s The Peacemaker (U.S.).
Spaceship Earth is a doc exploring the perspective that the earth is a spaceship and humans are its crew. I Am the Blues meanwhile heads to the American south in search of wisdom and rhythm from the last of the original blues legends, including Bobby Rush, Lazy Lester and Barbara Lynn.
The 2016 Hot Docs runs from April 28 to May 8.
