Family Channels preps Ice Girls

Everyone's favourite '90s figure skating champion, Elvis Stojko, will topline the March MOW.

ice girlsFamily Channel has announced it will bow original MOW Ice Girls on March 11 at 8 p.m., with a cast featuring real-life figure skaters Elvis Stojko, Michaela Du Toit and Taylor Hinsley.

The film was shot in Sudbury, ON, and follows the story of a figure skater named Mattie Dane (Du Toit) as she navigates her way through the world of competitive figure skating following a major injury.

Natasha Henstridge (The Whole Nine Yards, Would Be Kings) also stars in Ice Girls along with Stojko, Du Toit and Hinsley. Shane Harte and Sheila McCarthy also have lead roles in the film. Tessa Virtue, who recently announced her return to international ice dance competition, will have an guest appearance in Ice Girls.

Ice Girls was commissioned by DHX Television, created by Responsible Cinema Inc. and produced in association with Tajj Media. William Steinkamp is executive producer on the film along with G. Scott Paterson, Lowell Conn, Warren Fergus, Anthony Cowley, Kelly Gilbert and Lara Daans. Daans also served as a writer on the film, along with director Damian Lee. Jeff Sackman and Steve Solomos served as producers on Ice Girls.
