Music publishing firm ole has renewed its worldwide administration deal with the National Film Board in a deal that will see the the company continue to administer the NFB’s entire catalogue. The NFB has been a client of ole’s since 2006 and the organization’s catalogue includes songs from The Danish Poet, Ryan, and Bob’s Birthday.
In other ole news this week, the company has acquired independent production music library 5 Alarm Music. The acquisition gives ole an additional 130,000 songs in its catalogue, taking its total to around 750,000 songs. California-based 5 Alarm will continue to operate independently and serve its using client base.
Guru Studio
Toronto’s Guru Studio has announced sales of its pre-school property Justin Time into five international territories. The series was sold to Presto (Australia), E-vision (Middle East, North Africa), Discovery Kids (Southeast Asia), as well as to Sony Pictures Television’s Tiny Pop service in the U.K. In addition, it was announced that the series will air on VMe Kids, America’s first 24-hour Spanish-language educational preschool network. The show is now available in more than 200 territories, according to Guru Studio. In March 2013, Justin Time was picked up by Netflix, and the a third season of the show was ordered by Disney Junior Canada in November 2014.
True Gravity
Toronto-based True Gravity Productions has signed a distribution and production deal with Paris-based company 10Francs. The agreement will see 10Francs distributing True Gravity content in Europe, while the pair will also pursue coproduction opportunities in both Europe and North America. The Canadian company was launched by president Warren Campbell in 2014 and among its in-development projects are travel series What Stars Resort To (hosted by Sophia Jurksztowicz), comic sports series High and Inside (hosted by Dave Hemstad) and tech magazine show The Feed.
Raven Banner
Toronto-based distributor Raven Banner has signed an output agreement with Winnipeg’s Buffalo Gals for a slate of genre films. Read more about the deal here.
