The history-focused series (pictured) will make its debut on TVOKids this evening, with a fourth season of Apartment 11's Finding Stuff Out also set to go into production this summer.

Montreal-based Apartment 11 has partnered with TVO to coproduce a new kids history-focused series, The Mystery Files, with the pubcaster also picking up a fourth season of the prodco’s Finding Stuff Out series.

The Mystery Files will bow on TVO on Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m., with repeat episodes airing on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. The series follows two kids and their aunt, who have inherited the files of a relative, and use what they discover in the files to connect events from the past to the present. The series was co-developed by Apartment 11 and TVO in relation to the new Ontario social studies curriculum, and is targeted to children in grades two to four. The first season will include 13, half-hour episodes.

In addition to The Mystery Files pickup, the fourth season of Apartment 11’s Finding Stuff Out is set to go into production this summer, and will include 13 episodes. The series is geared towards kids aged six to nine, with the new season set to introduce a video-chat segment with kids from across Canada.

Both The Mystery Files and Finding Stuff Out are produced with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the Shaw Rocket Fund, the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, and provincial and federal tax credits.
