Fred Joubaud takes over int’l sales at Tricon

The former Ouat Media exec (pictured) is part of a raft of promotions at the Toronto producer and distributor.

tricon frederic joubaud - headshotTricon Films and Television has announced the hire of Fred Joubaud as its new director of international sales and digital acquisitions.

In his new position, Joubaud will be responsible for international sales to Hispanic U.S., Latin America, Iberia, Italy, Greece and central and eastern Europe as well as digital acquisitions.

Joubaud is taking over the role from Lia Dolente, who has been named as Tricon’s director of communications. He joins the company from Toronto-based distributor Ouat Media, where he served as general manager since 2006.

“Fred’s extensive experience and business expertise is a perfect fit for our rapidly expanding international distribution arm, and we are delighted to have him join our team,” said Karthiga Ratnasabapathy, VP, worldwide sales and acquisitions in a statement.

Prior to his work at Ouat Media, Joubaud was the head of acquisitions and sales at French distributor Premium Films, where he was responsible for North and South America, Asia, Australia and western Europe.

In addition to the hire, Tricon has announced three promotions, with Paul Lancaric upped to VP, business affairs, Liz Coucean promoted to director of international sales and acquisitions for Africa, France and Benelux, and Nick Solowski becoming senior director of international sales and acquisitions for Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, Germany, inflight and non-theatrical.
