Room earns acting nod at Golden Globes

The Ireland/Canada copro was up for three Golden Globe awards and took home one for Brie Larson's lead performance.

American actress Brie Larson won a Golden Globe award Sunday evening for her work in the Ireland/Canada copro Room, in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama.

Room was up for three Golden Globe awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama and best screenplay. The Best Motion Picture – Drama prize went to Alejandro Inarritu’s Alberta-shot The Revenant, while the best screenplay prize was awarded to Aaron Sorkin for Steve Jobs. Room also recently earned a nomination for the 2016 BAFTA Awards, again for Larson’s performance in the category of Best Leading Actress. Room was also named the best Canadian film by the Vancouver Film Critics Circle late last week, and won the People’s Choice Award at .

Room is directed by Lenny Abrahamson, with No Trace Camping producing in association with Duperele Film. The film is distributed by Elevation Pictures in Canada.
