Patrice Baillargeon has joined Toronto-based Project 10 Productions in the newly created position of VP unscripted content.

Baillargeon will be tasked with overseeing all of Project 10’s unscripted development and production activities. He will report Project 10 president Andrew Barnsley.

Prior to joining Project 10, Baillargeon co-owned prodco The Order Productions, where he served as writer and executive producer for the pilot of a series titled The Order: First Degree. Before that, he was the director of development and production for Rogers Broadcasting for City, OLN, Bio and G4, a position he held from 2008 to 2011.

During that time served as executive in charge of production on a number of Rogers shows including Mantracker, The Quon Dynasty and Murdoch Mysteries. Baillargeon and Barnsley first met when Barnsley was producing a series for OLN. Baillargeon also held various positions at Alliance Atlantis, including program manager for Food Network Canada, HGTV Canada and Fine Living Canada.

As Project 10 looks to grow its activity in the unscripted space, Barnsley said Baillargeon’s connections to the broadcast world are invaluable.

“From Patrice’s experience as a broadcaster, he has strong relationships with talent and creators, and also understands the international marketplace. He brings expertise and relationships to the table, so there is a lot of value add to having him there, not only on the creative side but for the relationships he built,” Barnsley told Playback Daily.

While Barnsley noted the company is still in the early stages of planning an updated unscripted strategy, the slate will include factual entertainment, lifestyle and documentary projects, in addition to sports programming to build upon the success of its Sports on Fire series for HBO Canada.

The hire comes about nine months after Ben Murray joined Project 10 as the company’s VP development and production. Other projects currently on Project 10’s development slate include Beyond Repair for Bell Media, Darcy for Bell Media and My Scottish Family for CBC.
