Rogers Doc and Cable fund invests $2.1M in latest round

A total of 13 TV projects received funding in this latest round, including marblemedia and Proper Television's Drive Me Crazy.

copied from media in canada - copied from playback - shutterstock_tv_moneyThe Rogers Documentary and Cable Network Fund has made equity investments worth $2.1 million across 13 television projects, it was announced Wednesday.

Of the selected projects, 10 are documentaries, two are non-scripted series and one is a children’s series. The fund supports Canadian programs that have a first play on a Canadian cable channel.

Among the projects selected were the first season of Driving Me Crazy, an unscripted series from marblemedia and Proper Television that follows new tween/teen drivers. The series is set to air on YTV. Documentary Channel projects receiving financing included Harmony Documentary’s Genius Factory, Catbird Productions’ Grand Cru, Primitive Entertainment’s How to Build a Time Machine, MC2 Communication Media’s Living with Giants and CCI Productions’ Sled Dogs.

Three projects set to air on Super Channel also received funding in this latest round: 90th Parallel Productions’ Invisible Essence: The Little Prince, Sphinx Productions’ Mermaids and Cave 7 Productions’ Miniature.

Elsewhere, the fund also backed Mountain Roads Productions’ Heavy Lifting, to air on Cottage Life, Primitive Entertainment’s Spaceship Earth, to air on History Channel, and Yap Films’ Made for Destruction, set to air on Discovery Canada and Explora. Finally, Inigo Athenaeum Enterprise’s Star Men, to air on Vision TV and Canal D, also received support from the fund.
