Production is underway in Vancouver on Centre Stage: Dance Camp, with Director X attached to direct the follow-up to 2008’s Centre Stage: Turn It Up.

The Canadian project was developed and will be produced by Vicki Sotheran and Greg Malcolm of Sodona Films Ltd. Toronto native Director X is primarily known for his music video work, having directed videos for Jay Z, Kayne West, Usher, John Mayer and four music videos for Drake singles, including “Hotline Bling,” “Worst Behaviour” and “Started From The Bottom.”

Laurence Mark, who produced Centre Stage: Turn It Up and 2000’s Centre Stage, will executive produce this latest iteration of the franchise.

Returning to the cast from the original Centre Stage feature is Peter Gallagher, Ethan Stiefel and Sascha Radetsky. Nicole Munoz, who stars in the film, also appeared in Centre Stage: Turn It Up. Kenny Wormald will also appear in the film, along with Chloe Lukasiak.

Centre Stage: Dance Camp was written by Nisha Ganatra. Monica Proenca will serve as the choreographer for the film, which follows a group of dancers competing for a spot in the American Ballet Company over an intense six-week audition program.

Thunderbird Films is handling distribution for the feature, which will air on Lifetime in the U.S. There is no Canadian broadcaster attached to the project as of yet.
