gerry deeAn untitled Gerry Dee project with executive producer Tom Hertz is in development at CBS Television Studios.

Dee is attached as executive producer, alongside fellow Canadian Will Arnett’s production company Electric Avenue, Peter Principato of Principato-Young Entertainment and Mike Volpe of Topsail Entertainment, who produces Mr. D on CBC.

Hertz, whose previous credits include Spin City and Rules of Engagement, will showrun and Electric Avenue’s Jed Weitzman is attached to produce.

The project is a multi-camera workplace comedy set in a high school, as per Mr. D on CBC

Dee said in an interview with Playback Daily that a mutual friend connected him and Arnett, who told Dee he had previously encountered commercials of Mr. D while watching Canadian broadcasts of Toronto Maple Leafs games in Los Angeles. They continued to work together on the idea of making a U.S. version of the show, which would be produced by Arnett’s shingle. That idea turned into a development deal with CBS.

Mr. D, which stars Dee, is produced by Topsail and Gerard ADHD Entertainment, in association with CBC. The series is currently in its fifth season.
